Thomas F. Schaffler, Sr. – Founder & Chief Executive Officer

A lifelong resident of Memphis, TN, and the third of five children, Tom graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1971. Tom attended Vanderbilt University on a football scholarship, graduating with a Business Administration degree in 1975. After Vanderbilt, he started a nearly 30-year career as an entrepreneur, developing commercial real estate and operating a variety of businesses including fast food restaurants, retail centers, oil products distributors, self-storage facilities and luxury residential projects throughout the country.

Tom currently lives in Destin, FL with his wife of 33 years, Margaret. They have three children and three grandchildren. Tom is passionate about, and committed to, spending the balance of his career improving the level of care for individuals with Alzheimer’s or dementia through Clarity Pointe and Abe’s Garden®. Though driven to succeed in business, he also enjoys spending time with his family and playing an accomplished game of golf.

Joe B. Phillips – Director of Development/Construction

With 40 years of managerial experience in the construction industry, Joe has been responsible for the total project management (TPM) of construction projects for developers in over 20 states for the past 17 years. Taking projects from design to final completion included hiring and managing civil engineers, architects and general contractors to help see the job through. 

Prior to that, he managed all aspects of day-to-day operations, including bidding, contract negotiation, scheduling and change orders, supervision of all project managers, subcontractors and superintendents.

His project portfolio, gathered after he received a BS in Building Sciences from Auburn University, includes multi-story office buildings, high-rise condominiums, apartments, large box retail centers, industrial facilities, public school and university facilities, hospitals, nursing homes and retirement complexes.

Faith Ott – Director of Marketing & Sales

With more than 25 years of experience in senior living strategic planning, market research, campus master planning and program/product development, Faith Ott has worked in every facet of the senior living lifestyle continuum, including Life Care Communities and CCRCs, assisted living and memory care communities, adult day care centers, sub-acute and rehabilitation facilities, long-term care centers, hospice care providers and homecare services.

Faith has worked with an extensive list of clients in both the for-profit and not-for-profit senior living sectors throughout the country. Faith has also developed business plans for new programs and services for clients, such as hospice providers, cardiac care, wound care, Alzheimer’s care, orthopedic care, adult day care, short-term rehabilitation and long-term acute care. She has worked on many new development and campus-enhancement projects, and has been a key player in helping to identify strong market opportunities and guiding clients in the successful implementation of market feasibility studies, focus groups and master planning efforts.

An active member of Leading Age and ALFA, Faith is often invited to speak at state and national industry conferences on market research, campus master planning, focus groups and branding. Faith also understands the dynamics of working with organizations and their not-for-profit boards.
